What Do We Talk About in a Christian Life Coaching Session?

Christian Life Coaching Helps you Understand God’s Direction For Your Life

When I tell people I’m a Christian life coach or that I offer Spiritual Discernment sessions, I usually get an “Oh, that’s cool,” a nod, a smile, and a dusty glimmer of “Huh?” in their eyes.

Clearly, they have only a vague idea at best about what the heck I do.

Most people have heard of life coaching and Christian coaching. But, still, until you’ve worked with a coach, it can be hard to wrap your head around what coaching actually is.

What happens in a Christian coaching session?

What kind of things do we talk about when we’re trying to discern God’s voice?

What questions are okay to bring to a Christian life coach?

Most simply put…

I’m a Christian life coach and I help people find clarity in their decisions

and discern God’s direction for their lives.

What Kind Of Stuff Comes Up In A Christian Coaching Session?

Typically in a session with me, you’ll come with one topic you need clarity or encouragement on.

You might have a whole list of things you want to hear the Lord on or talk out with me and seek wisdom for. This is normal! Many clients come with multiple topics they want to look into. And we’ll get to them in time🩷.

But since in each meeting we’re aiming to help you move forward somehow (not just stay stuck in your feelings about it), we take those questions one at a time.

(*In an Intensive session, we’ll typically get to 2-4 topics. These sessions are a great option if you’re ready to dig deep, focus, and spend a few hours together at once.)

There’s no “right” or “wrong” thing to bring into a session. If it’s weighing on your heart, then it matters. The Lord cares about what you're carrying, and He wants to meet you with clarity, wisdom, and peace. He doesn’t want you, His precious child, to be confused.

Even if the answer is to wait, He wants you to feel certain that He’s walking with you in the waiting.

In each session, women bring real-life questions to the table. Things they’ve been praying about, journaling through, or just quietly wrestling with on their own. There’s also the “I don’t know what’s up, but something’s off” question they bring sometimes, too.

Here’s a peek at the kinds of questions we often discern together…

(*What you share with me in a coaching session stays between us. The only exception would be if there’s a serious ethical concern—like if you’re in danger, someone else is, or something illegal is involved. To protect each client’s privacy, I’ve gently tweaked the examples below. They’re still true to the heart of what we’ve worked through together, just adjusted slightly to honor confidentiality.)
